We’re a little bit into December now, which means it’s time for our monthly playlist!
Happy December! And now that I’ve had time to reflect on November, here’s why I chose the songs for the playlist this month.
We’re now in a season of love and cold and family, where many of us start to think of “home.” Whether that’s where our family is, where we are or where we wish we were. Songs like “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” “City of Angels” and “California” remind me of places I love. Meanwhile, it’s also a season of comfort. So songs like “Emmylou”, “Sweet Louise”, “Broken Heart”, “Time to Run” and “Last Request” make me feel all warm and comfy when it’s cold outside. “Gun” and “Anna Sun” keep me motivated and moving when all I want to do is stay in bed on a Monday morning. But I wonder, what songs will the New Year bring?
My choices this month are quite different from October. I’ve been working so much this month that I needed some songs to get me pumped and motivated and also inspire me. There’s a mix of new (Katy Perry’s latest “Walking On Air” has a nice 80s dance mix that helps me get through the day), a mix of old (Jukebox The Ghost’s “Don’t Let Me Fall Behind” was a song I had on repeat at the beginning of the year) and mix of the usual (literally can’t not listen to Haim and Bastille, guys. Sorry!). Little Daylight and The 1975 have me jamming at my desk and Lorde and Watsky allow me to reflect on life in general (and also jam at my desk).
